Scrolling Shooters - General Discussion

Anyone who was there when I presented the Touhou Project vertically-scrolling shooters will probably understand that I also like other games in the genre too.

In particular, I am a huge fan of the R-Type games, a series of mostly f**k hard horizontally scrolling shooters by IREM. R-Type is the creator of two of the things we love in shooters today: the defensive-offensive satellite drone, known as a "Force Device", and the "Wave Cannon", a charged attack.

Here is a demonstration video by a YouTube user. This video shows off my favorite in the series, R-Type Delta (technically the 5th game in the series, but the first 3D entry, so...)
